FAQ
When can I get on the waiting list for NLCDCC?
We recommend putting your child's name on the waiting list for 12 month spots when your child is born or as soon as you know that you need child care. To be put on the wait list, parents must apply online to the Centralized Wait List Registry at https://onehsn.com/Peterborough.
When did the daycare open and who runs the daycare?
Northern Lights Children's Daycare Centre opened in January 1990 and is a non-profit organization with a Board of Directors.
Who should I call if my child is sick and cannot attend the daycare?
Please call the daycare first thing in the morning to let us know if your child is ill and will not be in. The daycare phone number is (705) 295-6622.
How do I get Subsidy?
Subsidized childcare is available through the City of Peterborough. Any family is welcome to call the intake phone number and they will advise you if you qualify for any subsidy. Please call 705-748-8830 ext. 3616. http://www.peterborough.ca/Living/City_Services/Social_Services/Children_s_Services.htm
Do you have reduced rates for people with multiple children?
Unfortunately we do not, but also please note that even if you have been told you do not qualify for subsidy once, when you have more children sometimes your criteria changes.
Are the children escorted to the daycare at the end of the day?
Children in Full Day Kindergarten are escorted by the teachers to the staff. Children in Grades 1 to 6 have a central meeting place where they check in.
